Frederic Chopin was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist (1810-1849) who is considered one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era. He was a child genius on the piano and in his youth was noted for his keen intelligence, drawing and sketching skills, and sense of humor. The majority of his works are for solo piano, and are often technically difficult to perform. He achieved great fame during his short life and knew and influenced many notable composers and musicians. Since his time and to the present day, his music is universally known and loved.
